Tyrona
Starfyr
[Shadow Star]
Age:
31
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Loyalty: Unity
Height: 5'11"
Appearance: Tyrona looks older
than her thirty-one years. Gray streaks her brown hair, and
her almost too thin face is lined. Mostly at the corners of
the eyes, a face that smiles much, but lined it is, the results
of a debilitating disease she's not fully recovered from.
Blue eyes sparkle with good humor that has remained through
all trials, and her skin is tanned, wind-creased and wind-leathered.
She is fairly tall, for a human woman, and walks with confidence
and grace. Oftentimes a sword swings at her side, a long one-handed
weapon with a fiery red blade and a blue pommelstone she calls
Phoenix Heart. And her fluid movements, unchanged
by the disease, indicate skill with the flameblade.
Tyrona typically wears the colors of the Fire Realm, all reds
and golds and the occasional blue. Never dresses if she can
help it; she sticks to pants and shirts, clothing that allows
for free movement.
Guild/Rank: Master Knight, former
Fire Queen
Personality: Tyrona is as fiery
as the realm she once ruled. She's compassionate, honorable,
with a dry humor, and friendly enough, but quick to anger.
And her anger is not a pretty thing to behold; it's usually
followed by a challenge to a duel, flameblade hissing from
its sheath, a predatory grin on the weathered face. She's
impulsive as well, which has gotten her into quite a few fixes
in the past. She resents any threat to her freedom, any hindrance
to doing what she will; as queen, she'd chafed at the need
for guards and looked for any possible escape from their constant
watch, something that caused no end of consternation on the
part of the guards. Now she's got Flaren to worry over her,
and it provokes no few quarrels between the couple. She's
not very comfortable around magic, though she tolerates it
a lot better now than she once did.
Family
Mother: Tirra Starfyr - Master Healer - Deceased
Father: Kyron Starfyr - Master Knight - 64 years
Brother: Kyrrol - Master Healer - 27 years
Biography: Tyrona was born in
Cascadia Falls to a healer and a knight, during the reign
of Chaos. Tyrona began training as a page at age 9. Four years
later, she became a squire when she and her family fled the
Chaos-occupied city to their horse ranch, Starfyr Ranch. When
Ryntan drove out Chaos and took the throne, they sent a gift
of several horses to the king's stables.
Tyrona trained under her father until she was twenty, at which
point her father dubbed her a journeywoman and sent her off
to Cascadia Falls with her prize stallion, Mudiirf. There
she met Ilbun Flaren, who turned out to be a quarter-elemental,
and the rest of her evamiut. She watched the bonding of Jessamyn
and Ashalle. She stood guard at Jessamyn's coronation. She
fought in the Avenging War, the same war wherein King Ryntan
was slain; her mount, Mudiirf, was slain as well.
And then Tyrona returned to Cascadia Falls with the rest of
the victorious but diminished army. She watched a phoenix
mating flight. She helped a young thief, Inula, escape a flogging,
and was flogged in her place. Some time later, the bells rang
out the announcement of a hatching, the result of the phoenix
mating flight she'd seen. Tyrona attended, watched the first
four eggs hatch, the first three phoenixi bond (the fourth,
Claenal, called for his bond but no one answered), and then
the fifth hatched into a golden phoenix hen. She announced
herself as Kylranal, and then she called for Tyrona...
Flaren fled when he found out; it turned out he loved Tyrona,
and feared his elemental powers would rage out of control
someday and kill Kylranal, and therefore Ty as well. Tyrona
was placed into the Realmflares bondclass and began dating
one of the other Realmflares, an angelic mage named Draen
Cigam. Tyrona was crowned Fire Queen. The Realmflares graduated.
Tyrona began her duties as fire queen, slipping away from
the guards as often as she could, using a ring spelled with
a disguise spell and under the name Zalya Aven.
Then she received word from Oceanica. Ilbun Flaren was on
trial for murder. She hastened to the Oceanica court on Kylranal,
with Claenal following an hour or so behind (he'd heard from
a seer that if he stuck with Tyrona, she'd eventually lead
him to his "Irastheen"). Flaren had lost control
of his elemental powers, under the Compulsion spell of a Chaotic
mage, and slain his sister, as well as burnt down the inn
where she was staying. The court was going to execute him
despite his relative innocence (being under a compulsion spell
meant he was innocent), due to his being a quarter elemental,
but Tyrona walked in and stopped them. And then she had another
difficulty, perhaps a greater one: convincing Flaren not to
kill himself. Fortunately Claenal arrived just then, and it
turned out Flaren's true name was Irastheen, and his bond.
Their bond ability was cancelling out magic - especially elemental
magic. Nonetheless, Flaren left for the mountains to find
peace with himself and find his half-elemental mother and
inform her of his sister's death.
Tyrona broke it off with Draen and returned to Cascadia
Falls. Some years later, a sickness befell her, a debilitating
disease transmitted by magickal or telepathic links. To avoid
spreading the sickness to the rest of the ruling Council,
Tyrona retired, the Council link was severed. When he heard
of Tyrona's very weak condition, he came back, and they both
retired to the Starfyr Ranch and later wed.
Recently, the healers discovered a cure for Tyrona's disease,
and she's nearly back to full health.
Bond Name: Kylranal
Species: Phoenix
Description: Kylranal's a practical, sympathetic, level-headed
phoenix, very good with others, and a balance to Tyrona's
impulsivity and temper. She's a shimmering gold in color,
with deep blue eyes, copper talons, and a coppery beak.
Ability:
Magevision. Whereas dwarves have heatvision, Tyrona and Kylranal
have magevision. This sight is much like heatvision in that
it uses different colors for varying levels and types of magic.
Since magic so thickly permeates everything in Shadow Star
Isle, everything can be seen by the magic it holds. The two
can see the strands of magic that connect the hearts of bonded;
they can see the magic of spells or items; they can see the
magic of just about anything when using magevision. It's a
powerful and useful talent, if sometimes a bit confusing when
one switches from magevision to truevision or from truevision
to magevision.
